faith I had this in another thread but I realized that nobody would see it hidden there lol..

It just occurred to me that the Methadone you had in the fridge was likely EXPIRED.

The reason I say this is that the Methadone in liquid form (mixed with distilled water) has a shelf life of about 3-6 months..(the druggist wasn't exact on that as he did not wanna look it up but was sure it was 3 or 6)

The shelf life of Methadone with sweetener, such as cherry flavor or the one I get which is orange, is 30 days IF kept in the fridge.. The shelf is shorter because the sugars in the sweetener develops bacteria which breaks down the Methadone faster. Which is why it would go bad faster out of the fridge as Bacteria are slower to grow.

Anyways the Methadone Elixir that they make for you might be sugar free, OR they might add something like a preservative to keep the bacteria from growing, Or the druggist said sometimes if they Mix the forts step of mixing in a different consistency with the distilled water it might make a difference.

I do often wonder what the shelf life of the Methadone you get is...if it is 30 days in fridge like it is here than if you get a monthly take home you Best keep it in the fridge...

Any thoughts?

ashley1978 hmmm, I dunno.

I know one time the nurse and I at my clinic were talking and I had said something about how I pour juice into my take home bottles and take it that way, and she said "well dont pour the juice in BEFORE and store it all week, do it right before you take it, or else it will be bad"....I dont know if she meant like right away or what, but I dont even OPEN my bottles until I am about to take them as I am ALWAYS afraid I am going to spill the "liquid gold"

but that is a good question,
